Vancouver Wedding Photographer - BC Wedding Awards

BC Wedding Awards

Wow, well today has been incredible. I’m honestly lost for words but I’ll do my best .. I have 3 announcements to make ..

BC Wedding Awards Bodega Ridge Wedding Photographer

First of all, this afternoon I found out I was a finalist for Best Overall Wedding Photography (top 3) in British Columbia as awarded by the Professional BC Wedding Awards in 2018!

I’m SO incredibly over the moon with this recognition. 2018 has been a beautiful year in terms of the stories I was able to be a part of and I’ve also felt so aligned with my photography, creativity and documentation of weddings. I’ve really been in my element documenting and creating imagery for my couples this year.

Things are flowing.

The couples were perfect in every way and I did my best to capture their day in an honest + creative way. A HUGE thank you to every single couple that invited me in to be a part of one of the most important days of their lives. I love you all.

Big love to Amy + Cody – I submitted their wedding to the awards and took a chance here as every photo I submitted was in black + white.

Their intimate wedding at Dr Sun Yat Sen Gardens had a special August date of 8-8-18. I knew those 8’s (representing in various cultures everything from infinity, to rebirth, regeneration & prosperity) would be magical numbers for their day. Their day included taking portraits around Chinatown in Vancouver and finished the evening off with dinner and drinks at L’Abattoir in Gastown.

Here are the 12 images I submitted from their day:

I was also a finalist for Best Wedding Detail Photograph (top 3) for this image from Lucy + David’s wedding day .. shout out to Tofu (the dog) for being the best wedding day sidekick.

I love that Lucy, helped by her bridesmaids into her dress, and had no issue with Tofu sitting comfortably on her gown before the wedding ceremony. That’s real love.

Another Black and White image .. I love my black and whites! Classic and timeless.

Now .. for the REALLY big news ..

For the second year in a row, I won the Industry Achievement Award and I’m told by Justin, the organizer for the BC Wedding Awards, that I’m the first person in 10 years to receive the industry achievement award twice!

Ahhhh ..

This is one award that you can’t submit for. It’s completely anonymous and voted upon by industry peers so to receive this recognition is a huge honour.

For my brides and grooms who may not know, I also run an interview website called ARC, and this comes to life in the form of an annual photography conference, The Experience // ARC, in Vancouver, BC for 150 wedding photographers. This year we entered the third event and alongside shooting weddings in 2018, I started The ARC Creative Podcast too .. it’s been a creative and intense year but one I wouldn’t trade for anything. I feel that this award is in recognition for this contribution to the wedding photography industry.

I absolutely LOVE my photography community in Vancouver and honestly it has felt like family this year .. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart for everything and most importantly, being amazing humans and creatives .. Thank you to everyone who helps with ARC, from the crew to the volunteers, speakers and attendees.

To my family in the UK and my friends in Vancouver and all over the planet, thank you for your support, encouragement and love throughout this year.

To my BC family – huge thanks also to all the wedding vendors: the planners, venues, hair + make up artists, caterers, stylists, florists .. every creative that works so passionately on their craft, for kicking ass in 2018 and for nominating me for this award. I’m truly honoured. Thank you, SO much.

I promise to continue to keep giving back to the community I love so much, to continue to create great connections for community + spaces for creatives to connect, learn, grow and expand.

Final note .. my brand spanking new website is almost ready. I’m excited to share this soon – my new branding, look and feel. I honestly feel like I’m just getting started and 2019 is already looking like it’ll be a special year.

Here we go!
Much love,
Sachin
