Brix + Mortar Vancouver Wedding
Lisa + Marshall // Vancouver
What can I say about Lisa and Marshall’s wedding? The day turned out beautifully and was laid back from the start with a great celebration and partying to finish the night. First of all, it was a perfect Vancouver day. I started off with Marshall spending time with his father, Mark on the rooftop of his Olympic Village apartment. Mark helped Marshall get ready and passed down his own father’s wedding band to Marshall, as they reminisced and prepared for the day ahead…
After capturing their time together, I took some wedding portraits of Marshall before heading down to see Lisa, getting ready with her mother and sister. The laid-back vibe continued and once ready, we drove towards Vancouver’s Main Street where Lisa and Marshall would see each other for the first time (‘first look’ / reveal) in front of a wall of vines. I love these moments, the first time a couple sees each other on their wedding day, elongated and cherished. It also allows for more portraits and boy did we take advantage of the time we had before the ceremony.
Lisa and Marshall had a close friend drive us around areas in Gastown and Railtown that we had picked out (snacks and drinks all ready for us and packed) and we covered a lot of ground. The cherry on the cake being Ask For Luigi’s letting us shoot inside as they were preparing for the evening ahead. We were swift but seized the opportunity. Super grateful for that! Legends.
Later, we made our way to the ceremony at Vancouver’s premier wedding venue, Brix and Mortar. I love this venue because their staff always deliver the smoothest service from start to finish and the interior is a perfect mix of urban chic and rustic elegance, and always a dream to shoot in. They have a new lick of paint inside the restaurant too that has really brightened everything up beautifully.
We took some time to capture some portraits of Lisa’s and Marshall’s closest family and friends and then local guitarist Ruel Morales set the tone as guests started to arrive. The ceremony was held in the courtyard of Brix & Mortar and featured a candlelit aisle that set the mood for an intimate and emotional wedding. Marshall was holding back the tears as he saw Lisa walk down the aisle, ready to get married, witnessed by their loved ones.
Their reception was held inside the restaurant, the exposed brick walls complemented the gorgeous chandeliers and florals. Brix & Mortar makes for a great location for your intimate weddings in terms of decor the venue speaks for itself. I could go on and on about the evening, the speeches, the donuts that were eaten, the toasts that were made, and all the dancing that followed (I found it really hard to leave the dance floor!) .. but it’s time to get onto the wedding images, so I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did shooting it.
Thank you for choosing me to document your day, Lisa and Marshall!

“Hired Sachin as our wedding photographer and cannot say enough about his talent, work ethic and character. He was very open and receptive to my photo and location ideas, and also happily answered my many questions along the way – and also shared a lot of great ideas for locations (ie the vine wall which we ended up loving!).On day of wedding, he showed up promptly and captured everything we had hoped for and more! My family was impressed at how discreet he was and, though I was initially bit worried about having hired only one shooter, he captured it all beautifully on his own and didn’t miss anything. He’s extremely friendly and polite, and both my husband and I really enjoyed getting to know him. We got all of our photos back recently and are so in love with them all. Would highly recommend Sachin!” – Lisa Craveiro
